The Alice Frazier Kitchen Scholarship Competition is open only to students of MTAC-WLA members and is geared toward the most advanced and gifted students.
Teachers may enter one student (age as of June 1, 2008) in each of four categories:

Category 1    age 09 & under    Entry Fee: $28
Category 2    age 12 & under    Entry Fee: $33
Category 3    age 15 & under    Entry Fee: $38
Category 4    age 18 & under    Entry Fee: $43
(grade 12 or lower)

Each entrant must present a recital program of three works (single movements of longer works are acceptable) from three different historical periods: Medieval/Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, Contemporary.

The Scholarship Competition Committee will review each proposed program.  If it is determined that the repertoire proposed does not meet competition standards, the teacher will be notified immediately.  If there is any question concerning the appropriateness of a student's proposed program, the teacher should contact the chair before submitting an application.  All music must be memorized, and students must bring one original score for each of their pieces (no photocopies) to the competition.  Previous 1st-place winners of a category may not enter that category or any lower category.  However, they may enter a higher category.  The decisions of the judges are final.  Judges are not obligated to select a winner in each category.  Any teacher who at any time contacts a judge regarding this competition and/or its results will have ALL of his/her students disqualified from this competition and will be ineligible for all MTAC-WLA competitions for one year.  Any parent who at any time contacts a judge regarding this competition and/or its results will have his/her child disqualified from this competition and will be ineligible for all MTAC-WLA competitions for one year.  The Scholarship Competition Committee is pleased to announce that this year, the following Alice Frazier Kitchen Memorial Scholarships may be awarded as follows:

Category 1    1st Place: $100    2nd Place: $50
Category 2    1st Place: $200    2nd Place: $100
